I believe that innovation in software is like a sandwich.

The first slice of bread is the creative vision for building the product in the first place - what "need" is it going to fulfil? i.e. the specification is highly creative/innovative.

Secondly, to initiate, build and test this vision is the substance (or filling) of the sandwich. It takes technological knowledge, skills, process and discipline.

Finally, one should innovate throughout (be creative) for the final piece of bread. Competition beating functionality, ease of use and an exciting user experience.

Bread and filling - sandwiches cannot succeed without both

Thank you for your comment!
I would definitely not look for a job in France with a gap in my CV. Everyone knows that there although there is no written rule about it.
Interchanging the spheres of Rituals and Heroes is really looking for troubles though! ;-)

So many details in this article are enlightening! I must have my cv looked at by someone from Voltaire's country (to hide some of the gap) and apply for more jobs with Australian bosses! But my main sin is that I have interchanged the spheres of Rituals and Heroes.

Hi Sylvain, how are you?

I love your blog.

Do you remeber teaching Zoe and I the wonders of RUP at QCA?
I don't know if you are aware that QCA are relocating to Coventry and any staff who do not wish to relocate are being made redundant.
Zoe left QCA last week after 4 years - we got her a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape - Cote Du Rhone in fact!
I think I will be here until the end of the year though.

How is everything with you and Liemur. I hope business is booming, especially with the recession.

All the best.
Sonia

Indeed, we can find many interpretations for the same words. Only the context can tell us which one to pick. That's a problem when we remove most of the context.

Thanks for your positive feedback.

“I don’t know you anymore!” there is yet another interpretation . . . Your partner has been exhibiting behaviour over a period of time that is not pleasant to you, or is confusing. You say 'I don't know you anymore' in a tone of sadness and/or regret; the person you thought you knew and loved seems to have changed out of all recognition. the 'don't know' element is the I don't understand anymore what motivates the person, makes them tick, you have ceased to understand them in that way.

Great blog and is going to intrude into my time because it is thought provoking, interesting an in need of close reading. In short ~ time consuming!
